We’ve got a solid backbone (library) for our code, so now let’s make it useful by manipulating the speed and direction with a joystick. ![]() Part 2 – dives head first into the world of coding as we define a library which will be very useful in controlling several motors and for keeping track of their statuses.Part 1 – the basics of writing Arduino code, starting from the easiest way of making a stepper move and finishing with an example of driving a stepper in either direction through the use of two push buttons.Let’s get started shall we? OH! but before we do, if anyone reading this has anything to add/correct, please chime in! My approach may not always be the best, fastest or neatest, so I’m always open to suggestions.Īs a guide, here is what we’ll be covering in each section: So, this is aimed at those people who are just starting out in Arduino, have no idea how to approach coding something like this, or for those who know how to code and are just interested in my approach. I’m going to start slowly, introducing basic concepts, and build upon each of those. We will start from the most basic code needed to get a stepper motor going and end with one that utilizes libraries, has smooth ramping for our steppers and makes use of several IOs such as a joystick and LCD. ![]()
